The University of Manchester Conferences and Venues offer a portfolio of amazing spaces for your next event, many available all year round, right in the heart of central Manchester.
As a place of excellence for learning and innovation, our scale and strong heritage provides event organisers with a choice of contemporary and historic venues, suitable for everything from a boardroom for 8 to large international association conferences for up to 1000 delegates as well as stunning venues for dinners and drinks receptions.
In the city centre, our Renold Building has three ground floor theatres, the largest seating 524, together with 900 square metres of exhibition space off a central foyer space making it ideal for national and international conferences. There are a further 5x150 seat theatres and 20 breakout rooms.
On the same site, Manchester Meeting Place and the Barnes Wallis building provide dedicated day meeting facilities year round for 8-200 people. Manchester Meeting Place has 10 meeting rooms which include two boardrooms and flexible meeting rooms seating 20-90 theatre style,all come equipped with a data projector, screen,flipchart and free Wi-Fi access. There is also a 100 seat restaurant or the more informal Hub where delegates can enjoy refreshments and buffet style lunches. The Barnes Wallis building has two meeting rooms, one seating 65 cabaret style and the other seating 150 cabaret style, the rooms also work well together as meeting space for up to 120 theatre style with poster/exhibition and catering. Across the campus, the neo-Gothic Sackville Street Building has the Great Hall, a stunning setting for presentations up to 300 and formal buffets for 180, and the Entrance Hall which works well for drinks receptions or daytime catering.
Across the city centre on the Oxford Road Campus, is our flagship conference venue, University Place, a popular choice for national and international conferences, with a 1000 seat auditorium which divides into a 600 and 280 seat theatre, along with 23 seminar rooms, a 300 seat restaurant, a 500m2 exhibition space and adjacent marquee area.
The Whitworth Hall sits across the road from University Place and with its woodpanelled walls and hammerbeam roof has a "Harry Potter" feel to and is an amazing space to host drinks receptions and formal dinners. Next door is the equally impressive Christie's Bistro which hosts dinners for up to 120 and drinks receptions for 200.
The latest addition to our venue portfolio is the Core Technology Facility which is a light, contemporary space available for year round meeting from 8 boardroom to 120 theatre style.
All of our venues offer a high specification of audio-visual equipment and free Wifi access managed by our in-house Media Services team and we pride ourselves on being able to cater for anything from a sandwich lunch to a 3 course banquet, using locally sourced ingredients within our sustainable menus.
Our student accommodation is available in the halls of residence during the summer vacation for residential events , and now includes 1000 brand new rooms at Unsworth Park close to our major sports facilities which has a large indoor sports hall and over 20 outdoor grass pitches.
Other services include ConferCare, a full conference administration service, tailored to the individual needs of event organisers to manage the detail of the event whilst organisers are able to focus their time on producing a quality programme. All of our venues have their own experienced in house events team to ensure that organisers have a point of contact through their event.
