Chester-le-Street station is a 15-20 minute walk to Durham Cricket and is served by three train operating companies. Northern Rail, CrossCountry and First TransPennine all serve Chester-le-Street from Newcastle, Durham and Darlington. Northern Rail services run to and from Thornaby, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Saltburn, sometimes requiring a change at Darlington. CrossCountry serve York, Doncaster, Sheffield, Derby, Birmingham and points beyond, and TransPennine serve York, Leeds, Huddersfield and Manchester. On busy match days, additional stops are made by trains at Chester-le-Street.
