Value for Money:   Overall the cost of living in Las Vegas is slightly lower than the average for the USA. A meal in a mid range restaurant will be $30-50 per person and a beer $3-$5. A coffee will cost $4-$4.50.
Las Vegas is the largest city in Nevada and internationally renowned as a major resort for gambling, shopping, and fine dining.  Las Vegas started as a stopover on the pioneer trails to the west, and became a popular railroad town in the early 20th century.  There oldest area is Fremont Street which has recently been re-developed.  The city calls itself The Entertainment Capital of the World and is known for the Las Vegas Strip, 4 miles of hotels, casinos and resorts with more than 67,000 bedrooms.  The architecture is dramatic with each hotel in a different theme.  Las Vegas has a subtropical desert climate and is situated in a basin on the desert floor, surrounded by dry mountains.  McCarran International Airport is adjacent to the Strip and has international and domestic flights into the Las Vegas Valley.  The city has large convention facilities and tried to diversity although it has suffered in the recent recession.
