Well Met, the conferencing office at Leeds Beckett University, top off an exciting year by winning the Top Team Award at the Leeds Hotels and Venues Association’s (LHVA) 10th Awards ceremony last night.
The award follows a year of big changes for Well Met as it builds up to the launch of Cloth Hall Court, its brand new Conferencing Centre for up to 300 delegates. Well Met were praised by the independent panel of judges for their ability to rival corporate conferencing facilities in the city, whilst working within an academic operating environment. The conference team impressed judges with their range of skills and experience which has helped them successfully take on the launch of their new venue.
The LHVA Awards, which took place at The Queens Hotel, saw 275 attendees from hotels and venues across Leeds; the largest ceremony in the history of the association. The Top Team Award was highly contested with 10 internationally renowned hotels joining Well Met in the final shortlist, as the only dedicated conferencing venue, the team proved their mettle when they were crowned the deserved winners. Well Met are now looking forward to opening Cloth Hall Court, which will position the team amongst the city centre’s big players including the city centre hotels and independent venues.
Clare Vidler, Conference Manager at Well Met commented:
“We were absolutely delighted to receive the award, I had every faith that the team would impress the judges, there were a lot of strong contenders in the shortlist including some of the city’s biggest hotels. We are a really close-knit team and it’s fantastic that we’ve been recognised by judges and our fellow association members on the 10th anniversary of the awards. We are now spurred on to ensure that Cloth Hall Court becomes one of the seminal conferencing venues in Leeds!”
