Five London hotel openings

London has 65 new hotel openings planned for this year. Here's our top five to keep an eye on for future meetings and events space. 

Nobu Hotel Portman Square

Located in the heart of London’s Marylebone, Nobu Hotel London Portman Square will feature 249 guest rooms and suites, together with a Nobu restaurant, 600-capacity ballroom and nine meeting spaces on a dedicated events floor.

Nobu Hotel London Portman Square is expected to open in early summer on the site of the former Radisson Blu Portman.

Nobu Hospitality, which will run the hotel was founded by chef Nobu Matsuhisa, actor Robert De Niro and director Meir Teper.

Pan Pacific

The much anticipated opening of the first Pan Pacific Hotel in Europe is set to happen towards the end of this year.

The 237-bedroom Pan Pacific London will be located within the mixed-use One Bishopsgate Plaza development, close to Liverpool Street station. 

Facilities will include an 18th floor Signature Suite, an indoor pool, spa and fitness centre, and a ballroom accommodating up to 370 guests.

The new hotel will feature three levels of “experiential sky gardens”, and will be Pan Pacific’s first zero-waste hotel, with eco-friendly elements including a rainwater harvesting system, and a compactor, which transforms food waste into compost.

The Guardsman 

A new-build luxury hotel is set to open on London’s Buckingham Gate in June.

The Guardsman will have 53 rooms, as well as six residences across the top three floors, including a penthouse with a wraparound terrace.The residences will be available to hire for private events of up to 35 people in each one.

The Guardsman's aptly named restaurant, The Dining Room, is open exclusively to residents and their guests and has a focus on seasonal, organic ingredients. 

The hotel will use only 100% renewable energy for its operations, in addition to implementing other rigorous sustainability standards. 

Mayfair Townhouse 

The 172-room Mayfair Townhouse will be located within a set of seven listed Georgian buildings, formerly home to the Hilton London Green Park.

Scheduled to open in September, the Mayfair Townhouse will feature a Penthouse suite and Garden suite, as well as The Dandy Bar, gym, and “versatile event spaces”.

It will be managed by Iconic Luxury Hotels, which currently owns Cliveden House, Chewton Glen, The Lygon Arms and 11 Cadogan Gardens.

The Londoner

Located in Leicester Square and extending six levels below ground, the Londoner will offer 350 bedrooms and 35 suites when it opens in the Spring. 

It will also feature a rooftop bar and expansive meetings and events space, featuring a state-of-the-art 6,092sqft pillar-free ballroom, which will accommodate up to 864 guests and can be divided into two sections.
