Venue announcements making headlines at the start of 2020 include a £20 million investment promise by etc Venues, a new caterer for No. 11 Cavendish Square, Odeon’s latest venue hire offer and the opening of two Hyatt hotels in Manchester. 

£20 million investment promised by etc Venues

Consortium, etc Venues has promised a £20 million investment in new spaces globally in the coming year. 

Three more venues will be added to the company’s portfolio, and a further £1 million will be spent on developing online meeting technology. 

By the end of 2020, etc Venues will feature 20 venues in London, Birmingham, Manchester and New York, offering more than 300 meeting rooms and over 46,452sqm of dedicated event space.

Nick Hoare, Chief Operating Officer said: “The year ahead is very exciting. We’re investing a record £20 million in development, and with more venues and rooms to offer, we’re expecting to host more than one million delegates at more than 20,000 events."

No. 11 Cavendish Square appoints Searcys

Searcys has been appointed as the official caterer at No.11 Cavendish Square, a central London Grade II-listed Georgian townhouse and events venue. 

Marking a new chapter for No. 11 Cavendish Square, the partnership with Searcys will bring the award-winning, sustainably-sourced catering service to the venue’s six principal spaces, 24 meeting rooms and a café for visitors and employees. 

Searcys’ restaurants, Champagne bars and events spaces are synonymous with warm hospitality and British heritage, with No.11 Cavendish Square joining a number of celebrated venues in London and nationwide.

These include the HAC and One Moorgate Place, Vintners’ Hall, the Barbican and the Gherkin in the City, Design Museum, Blenheim Palace and The Roman Baths

Odeon adds table seating to Islington Square

Odeon’s new Islington Square cinema in London has launched Odeon Luxe & Dine, an in-seat dining experience to complement its venue hire offer. 

The new luxury in-screen dining offer means that all 202 reclining seats across the venue’s six screens now have in-built tables, perfect for training and conference presentations where delegates need to take notes. 

Event planners can also use the cinema’s 250-capacity art deco-inspired foyer space and Oscar’s Bar for pre and post event receptions.  

Two Hyatt properties open in Manchester 

Hyatt Hotels has announced the opening of the 212-room Hyatt Regency Manchester and 116-room Hyatt House Manchester. Both are located in the city’s landmark building, the Lume. 

Hyatt Regency Manchester offers 212 contemporary guest-rooms and suites, all featuring floor-to-ceiling windows with city views. It also features 441sqm of event spaces including seven meeting rooms named after some of Manchester's best-known academics.

For business travellers looking for an extended stay, Hyatt House Manchester offers 116 studios and one-bedroom suites, all featuring fully-equipped kitchens, free WiFi and stylish living and working spaces.
