Jockey Club Catering raise thousands for Claire House

Published: 20 May 2019

Jockey Club Catering, the official food, beverage and hospitality partner to Aintree Racecourse, has helped raise over £7,500 for local charity Claire House Children’s Hospice during this year’s Randox Health Grand National.

Over 60 volunteers worked at the racecourse over two days to raise money for the children’s hospice, with the final amount being matched by Jockey Club Catering.

In the last three years the partnership has helped raise over £16,500 for the local charity helping to fund vital care for the 269 children currently being supported by the hospice.

Claire House Children’s Hospice helps seriously and terminally ill children live life to the full by creating wonderful experiences and bringing back a sense of normality to family life by providing specialist nursing care and emotional support.

Money raised will go towards private and group counselling sessions for children, parents, siblings and families; physical therapy including relaxing massage, reiki, aromatherapy and re-flexology; providing nutritious homecooked meals for children and their families; ensuring the very highest standard of cleanliness is upheld in the hospice; maintaining the beautiful gardens which offer quality time outdoors; as well as practical and emotional bereavement support.

During the Randox Health Grand National over 150,000 racegoers descended on Aintree Racecourse for the annual event whilst Jockey Club Catering’s operations saw more than 200 chefs, recruited from the local area, come together and serve at least 12,000 meals across the site’s renowned dining and hospitality areas.

Jockey Club Catering is a joint venture between The Jockey Club, the largest commercial group in British racing, and Compass Group UK & Ireland. The partnership was launched in 2009 with the aim of providing premium quality catering at all 15 of The Jockey Club Racecourses.
