Where the screen is the theme

Published: 09 May 2019

Film screenings and premiers aren’t the only reasons to hire a Curzon Cinema. These versatile venues are perfect for all types of on-stage presentations and receptions.

What’s more impactful than presenting on a big screen? How about seeing your video content, new product or business data benefit from, not only a big screen presentation format but also Dolby surround sound, 4K resolution, the option for 3D graphics, games console integration, audio description and hearing assist.

Hiring one of 13 Curzon Cinemas dotted around the country would give your corporate presentation or new product release all this, plus comfy tiered cinema seating and the use of the venue’s bar area for a standing reception before or after you’ve wowed guests with a Hollywood-style screening.

Each UK Curzon Cinema has a unique identity and can accommodate events for up to 307 in the estate’s largest screening room at Curzon Mayfair London (pictured above).

This particular London Curzon has two Royal Boxes, which will add that extra touch of glamour and sophistication and make the CEO or company chairman feel like the guest of honour.

The main screen has a good size stage, a spotlight and Dolby 5:1 digital sound. Disabled access is provided to both the venue and screening room, while the 70-capacity bar can be partitioned off for more private gatherings.

Perhaps the most icon London Curzon is the legendary Soho arthouse film venue on Shaftesbury Avenue.

This three-screen cinema can accommodate up to 250 people. For standing receptions, there’s a private alcove, which houses a collection of historic film posters and images from the Curzon archive and can be hired individually for up to 25 people.

For smaller London-based presentations, Curzon Victoria offers five boutique screening rooms, with Sony 4K digital projectors and seating for between 29 and 69 guests. The cinema houses a stylish open mezzanine workspace with tables, screens and a seating area, which can be made into a private space for either sit-down or standing receptions (pictured above). There is also a private room for 30 people.

Four other London-based Curzons are located in Aldgate, Bloomsbury, Richmond and Wimbledon.

Bloomsbury has a 150-capacity auditorium with a separate VIP balcony and intimate screening rooms for up to 30 guests. While Aldgate has a stage in both Screens One and Two, along with a sizeable foyer and bar area, which can be used for standing receptions for up to 80 guests (pictured below).

Built in 1914, the 144-capacity Curzon Richmond is steeped in film history and boasts an elegant character and luxurious atmosphere on the banks of the River Thames. While hmvcurzon Wimbledon has three screening rooms and an 85-capacity bar for standing receptions.

Six other UK Curzon Cinemas can be found in Canterbury, Colchester, Knutsford, Oxford, Ripon, and Sheffield.

The three-screen Curzon Sheffield is housed in a converted 19th Century bank in the city centre. It also offers a rooftop bar and terrace for up to 60 guests.

Curzon Ripon is the only cinema in this North Yorkshire cathedral city and offers two screens (58 seats and 38 seats), as well as four additional lounge and bar event spaces.

Situated across two floors in the Westgate Shopping Centre, Curzon Oxford offers five screening rooms. Screens One (144 seats), Two (172 seats) and Five (82 seats) can be used for presentations. Screen Three (134 seats) has 3D capabilities, while the venue also offers a private bar area for 180 guests.

Located in picturesque East Cheshire, Curzon Knutsford is a refurbished three-screen cinema for up to 128 in its largest screen. While Curzon Colchester (pictured below) has three screens to choose from, seating between 56 and 139 guests. Two cafe bars and one roof terrace offer pre and post event networking and reception areas.

Finally, Curzon Canterbury is a three-screen boutique cinema for 88 guests in its largest screen. It has a cosy foyer for 55 guests, gaming console compatibility in Screens One and Two and is easily accessible with parking facilities next door.

So the next time you consider how to make that on-stage presentation or AGM more impactful, why not consider hosting it at a Curzon and give your guests the red-carpet film premier treatment.
