News update on London hotels: Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park to fully reopen following fire, Landmark London named best hotel to work for and Hard Rock appoints new GM ahead of opening.

Mandarin Oriental to bounce back this Spring

The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London will fully re-open on 15 April following the fire that ripped through the property in June last year.

Following the re-opening of its restaurant and event spaces in December, the hotel has now unveiled all new 181 guest rooms and 40 suites, including two newly created penthouse suites.

Each of the hotel’s 40 suites range in size from the smallest, at 47 square metres, located within the turrets of the hotel, to the largest, at 444 square metres, which comprises the new three-bedroom Mandarin Oriental Penthouse with private terraces.

The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park also has a newly designed spa, which features 13 treatment rooms.

Event spaces at the property include five meeting spaces, plus the hotel’s ballroom for up to 650 guests.

Landmark London named as top 10 company to work for

The Landmark London has been named in the 2019 ‘Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For’ for a second consecutive year.

Being one of only two hotels to receive this prestigious accolade, the Landmark London took the highest placement, listed as sixth.

This positioning builds on a successful 2018, which saw the Landmark London listed as 27th.

The list celebrates the top 100 companies in the ‘mid’ category (250 – 3,000 employees) and is calculated primarily on surveys of employee satisfaction.

The Landmark London offers 11 meeting and event spaces. This Grand Dame hotel boasts over 2,100sqm of versatile space, perfect for meetings of 20 to gala receptions up to 750 guests.

Hard Rock hotel appoints new GM ahead of opening

Ian Fletcher has replaced Oliver Kahf as General Manager of the Hard Rock hotel in London ahead of the property’s launch next month.

Kahf was appointed in 2017 to oversee the 900-bedroom property, which is due to relaunch as the UK’s first Hard Rock hotel on 30 April following the refurbishment and rebrand of the former Cumberland hotel near Marble Arch.

Kahf left the hotel, which is owned and operated by GLH Hotels, for “personal reasons” in December.

A statement from the hotel reads: “Most recently General Manager of the Royal Horseguards hotel, Ian’s knowledge and skills, acquired over the course of his career, coupled with his passion and excitement for the Hard Rock brand, make him the perfect fit to lead the launch of the hotel.”

Destined to be a haven for music lovers, the Hard Rock hotel will boast two vibrant bars, 24-hour in-room dining, plus a Hard Rock Café set to serve American cooking with a British twist.

In the lobby, the world famous Rock Shop will feature Hard Rock’s merchandise.
