Keeping you in the know with venue news from around the country. This month, The Londoner moves into Leicester Square, a new venue is planned for the Greenwich Peninsula, Victory Services Club completes its four-year refurb, and Butlin's launches an autumn offer for event bookings.

The Londoner moves into Leicester Square

The Londoner, a new five-star hotel planned for Leicester Square by 2020, staged a ‘topping out’ ceremony earlier this month to mark the completion of its roof and main structure.

The £300million property, owned by Edwardian Hotels London, will offer meetings and restaurant facilities in London’s largest commercial basement.

Situated on the site of the former Odeon Cinema, the five-star hotel will feature five restaurants and lounges, including a rooftop bar across 15 storeys. There’ll also be 350 rooms and suites, two Odeon Luxe cinemas, a ballroom for up to 1000 guests and an underground spa.

Magazine London planned for Greenwich Peninsula

Magazine London, a new venue from the people behind Printworks and Landing Forty Two, is set to open on the Greenwich Peninsula in Summer 2019.

The 5,394sqm venue will have an indoor capacity for 3,000 people and boast an adjoining ‘Showground’ for outdoor events up to 7,000 people strong.

This means a combined space of 19,379sqm and capacity of 10,000 - opening up the potential for events, brand activations and festivals that require an outdoor element.

Construction of the venue is due to get underway in December.

Victory Services Club completes four-year refurbishment

The Victory Services Club, located near Marble Arch has marked the completion of a four-year refurbishment with the opening of a newly renovated and exclusive entrance foyer to its 300-capacity events space.

The Carisbrooke Hall Entrance Foyer has been fully refurbished with accessibility in mind. The entrance now allows for clear wheelchair access from pavement level into the foyer and has been upgraded to include a platform lift to allow guests to descend comfortably into the events space.

As a Military Charity, financial support was donated to the Club for this project through ‘Help for Heroes’.

Carisbrooke Hall underwent a major £1 million refurbishment in 2017 and is ideal for award ceremonies, conferences, dinners and drinks receptions.

Butlin’s launches added incentive for event bookings

Butlin’s Conference & Events has launched an autumnal booking incentive for anyone looking to host their next conference or event at any of its three coastal resorts in 2018 or 2019.

As part of this autumn incentive, event management agencies will also receive an enhanced booking commission, earning up to 15% for 2018 bookings and 12% for 2019 bookings.

Direct corporates who book an event for 2018 will receive added value of up to 10% of the event (up to £10,000), and those who book for 2019 will receive up to 7.5% (up to £7,500) of the event value.

Everyone who confirms a booking from now until 31 December 2018, will also be entered into a prize draw to win a Butlin’s holiday of their choice if they quote “Autumn 18”.

Event planners will be able to choose between a three-night Butlin’s Family break for two adults and two children (2-14 years) or a Live Music weekend break for two adults on selected dates.
