Ones to watch in 2019

Published: 18 Oct 2018

It's that time of year when we start getting excited about new venue openings for 2019. Here's four to watch out for.

Events @ No 6 plans January opening

A new purpose-built events venue is being built within the ground of The Royal College of Pathologists in east London.

Events @ No 6 will open its doors in early 2019 and feature spaces capable of hosting up to 210 delegates theatre-style.

Dedicated meeting rooms all include the latest AV equipment for reliable and professional working experiences. Flexible breakout areas will allow delegates a chance to refresh and refuel in naturally lit, open spaces overlooking the City.

The top floor will offer even more to organisers with an open-air terrace and flexible event space. Ideal for drinks receptions in the summer, the terrace can accommodate up to 60 guests while the indoor space is perfect for an evening of fine dining, board meetings or focused team away-days.

Food, drink and bespoke service will be a central focus for Events @ No 6. The property is the latest addition to caterer Vacherin’s portfolio of venues.

Bookings are now being taken for January 2019 onwards.

Hard Rock Hotel to open in London

Next spring, on the corner of Oxford Street and Park Lane, the doors to the eagerly anticipated Hard Rock Hotel will open.

Destined to be a haven for music lovers, this 1,000-room hotel will boast two vibrant bars, 24-hour in-room dining, plus a Hard Rock Café set to serve American cooking with a British twist.

Taking the London experience to another level, luxurious Rock Royalty rooms and suites will offer extra perks including a personal concierge and access to a Lounge.

With 370 seats, the hotel’s Hard Rock Cafe will combine an elevated food and drink offering with live events, celebrating both local London and international talent.

In the lobby, the world famous Rock Shop will feature Hard Rock’s merchandise.

Yotel eyes Glasgow opening

Yotel has unveiled plans to open its second hotel in Scotland and fifth in the UK.

The new hotel in Glasgow’s city centre is planned to open in November next year and will add 256 rooms to the brand’s European expansion strategy.

The hotel will also feature Glasgow’s first destination rooftop bar complete with bowling alley.

As one of the fastest growing cities in the UK, Glasgow is currently experiencing unprecedented levels of investment, with several high-profile projects planned, including the £150 million expansion of the Scottish Event Campus.

Kimpton Barcelona set for Spain debut

InterContinental Hotels Group will open Kimpton Barcelona in the second half of 2019.

The first hotel for the brand in Spain, Kimpton Barcelona will be centrally located in the heart of the city’s old town near the famous La Rambla street and will feature 156 rooms, a lobby lounge, an all-day dining restaurant and 250sqm of events space.

The hotel will offer guests a rooftop and a swimming pool with views of Barcelona’s city centre and its cathedral.

Kenneth Macpherson, chief executive of Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa at IHG, said: “We’ve seen in Amsterdam how well our boutique luxury offering has been received in Europe and this new signing provides more momentum for Kimpton’s global growth, following other recent signings in Frankfurt and Tokyo. We’re confident Kimpton’s heartfelt, personalised service and bold design will resonate well with this vibrant and buzzing city and expect more signings as we continue to take this brand to new markets around the globe.”
