About The Roundhouse
The Roundhouse Derby is a beautiful and magnificent series of truly iconic buildings that have a world-renowned status in railway history. As an event venue, The Roundhouse offers a spectacular backdrop and the flexibility to accommodate all kinds of events. The Roundhouse itself was built in 1839 and is the world's oldest surviving railway turning shed. Following a £48 million renovation, it has been returned to its former glory with original features restored.
The Roundhouse itself accommodates up to 680 guests, the Carriage Shop Theatre seats 120 and the adjoining Library hosts over 500 for pre-dinner drinks, while a superb mezzanine floor offers a wide range of breakout and reception rooms.
How we do it
The Roundhouse Events team pride themselves on first class customer service and were finalists in the Outstanding Customer Service category of the Visit Peak District & Derbyshire Excel Awards 2011. The team believe in overcoming any obstacle, never more evident than the sheer diversity of events hosted this year, in what is by day home to 2,500 college students. The Roundhouse Derby has recently won the prestigious 'Event Space of the Year 2012' award from the Event Magazine awards.
Be assured that Roundhouse Events has experience in delivering a wide range of events. From transforming the space into a TV studio for BBC Question Time, accommodating the National Winter Beer Festival for CAMRA, delivering corporate dinners for Rolls-Royce, CBI and The Prince’s Trust to social knees ups and weddings, the Roundhouse Events team have seen it all. Your dedicated event manager will move mountains to meet your needs.
Free Wi-Fi for all delegates and, if required, a series of ‘Pop Up Business Centres’ where delegates can access laptops, printers and conference calls, all serving Starbucks and with dedicated IT Support.

Listed buildings are often an inherently hostile environment to those with limited mobility or other disabilities. The provision of a fully inclusive environment at The Roundhouse has been a design priority from the inception of the scheme and it is a fitting testament that this has been achieved, despite the constraints of the historic fabric.
We have adopted various technologies to reduce the impact on the environment; these have contributed to The Roundhouse achieving a high degree of responsible environmental stewardship. The Roundhouse was awarded a National Recycling Star Award in March 2012, which recognises businesses that are making efforts to divert waste from landfill.
