Brighton hotels reborn

During his visit to Brighton, Mike Fletcher also checked out four hotel refurbishments and heard about a new boutique opening, changing the face of this seaside events destination

The Grand, Brighton

The restoration of the front of The Grand Brighton is progressing well. In addition to a new render, plus new windows and balconies for sea-facing rooms, a new lighting system is also being installed, designed to enhance the architectural design of the building.

The restoration project, aiming to be complete in winter 2017, is the latest development in a wider multi-million pound programme, following the sale of the hotel to independent owners in 2014. To date, this has seen The Grand install air-conditioning across its 201 bedrooms, refurbish its Victoria Terrace, Lounge and Bar, upgrade WiFi bandwidth capacity to 1GB and invest significantly in back of house facilities. Once the facade restoration is complete, more internal investment is planned.

Malmaison

Previously called the Seattle Hotel Brighton, this superbly-situated property is now a Malmaison and making waves on the marina. This three-star Malmaison now boasts all-new bedrooms, an elegant brasserie with sea-view conservatory and a private dining room for up to 12 guests.

Other meeting spaces include the Library for up to 12 delegates, three meeting rooms for 30 delegates each (which can also be combined), plus a Chez Mal Lounge with a reception capacity for up to 100 guests.

Brighton Harbour Hotel & Spa

Previously called Hotel Umi, this property has been transformed into the Brighton Harbour Hotel & Spa following substantial private investment.

The 79-bedroom hotel offers panoramic views across Brighton Pier from the Jetty Restaurant and an underground HarSpa, featuring Scandinavian hot tubs and hydrotherapy pool. The hotel’s Marine Room can accommodate up to 100 guests, while The Snug in the HarBar can host receptions for up to 30 guests.

Holiday Inn, Brighton Seafront

A complete bedroom upgrade has taken place across this Holiday Inn on the Brighton seafront, as well as refurbishments to the reception area, public areas and lounge. The property also now has a gourmet burger restaurant and offers free WiFi. Four flexible spaces in a variety of configurations cater for all type of events for up to 600 delegates.

Coming Soon….. Hotel Indigo
Opening from March 2018, Hotel Indigo (part of the IHG group) is located near to Brighton Station and the North Laine. Its 98 boutique bedrooms will all have rainfall showers and free WiFi, while the superior rooms will boast four-poster beds. The hotel also promises a fitness suite and on-site restaurant with reception and meetings space.
