Event management firms well-placed to overcome Brexit uncertainty

The majority of UK event management companies are in surprisingly good shape to cope with any Brexit fallout, a new report from market analyst Plimsoll Publishing argues.

Having carried out a financial health check on the UK’s 869 top event management firms, the new report has found that 361 firms are performing well in current market conditions and are well prepared for any uncertainty in the sector.

Plimsoll’s Senior Analyst, David Pattison, said: “Much like how your doctor would check your health and recommend action, we have done the same with each of the UK’s top 869 event management companies. Since the decision to leave the European Union, the market has been dogged with speculation and uncertainty. However our latest research suggests the majority of event management firms are surprisingly well placed. Having said that, however, that’s not to say there will not be an impact, but they are in good shape to cope and respond to any upheaval.”

London Marriott County Hall reveals refurb

The London Marriott County Hall hotel has completed a multi-million pound revamp, which has seen its 200 bedrooms and public spaces all renovated.

London landmarks have been integrated into the new hotel design, which also includes bowler hat prints on curtains and orange leather chairs echoing the building’s historical purpose as London’s Council Chamber. All suites now feature bespoke wallpaper featuring a map of London in the 1920s, when the hotel building was first opened.

There’s ten meeting spaces available, with a reception capacity for 100 delegates in either the Library or the impressive King George V room.

Hyatt Place to open at Heathrow Airport early 2017

Hyatt Hotels has announced plans to open its second Hyatt Place hotel in the UK.

Hyatt Place London Heathrow will open in early 2017. The 350-room hotel, on the doorstep of Heathrow Airport will offer seven flexible meeting and function spaces, to accommodate up to100 delegates. There will also be a 24-hour gym and a 'coffee to cocktails' bar.

Senior Vice President, Acquisitions and Development – EAME and Southwest Asia for Hyatt, Peter Norman, said: “We are delighted to collaborate with M&L Hospitality to bring a second Hyatt Place hotel to the U.K. The opening of this hotel will mark a significant milestone for Hyatt as the Hyatt Place brand continues to expand worldwide and offer more choices to our guests in key gateway cities.”

A 170-room Hyatt Place opened six miles from Heathrow Airport in May 2016.
