Coin Street Conference Centre hosts London Mayoral Disability Hustings

Published: 11 May 2016

April 14 2016 saw nine charity organisations join together to host the London Mayoral Disability Hustings at the Coin Street neighbourhood centre. This event was a unique opportunity to ask how London’s future mayor will make life better for deaf and disabled Londoners.

With over 150 people in attendance the event brought together a number of mayoral candidates as well as the charities British Deaf Association, Choice Support, Dimensions, Leonard Cheshire, Mencap, the National Autistic Society, RNIB, Scope and Thomas Pocklington Trust.

The Coin Street neighbourhood centre has several accessibility features that make the venue a welcoming environment for all. This includes full accessibility for wheelchair users throughout the centre and a fitted hearing loop. There is also large print signposting through the building and we happily welcome guide dogs.

“We chose Coin Street because it is a central and accessible location with a great community atmosphere. The staff that helped with our event were incredibly helpful and took all of our requirements into consideration. The day ran smoothly and the staff were on hand to deal with any queries we had. We were so impressed that we have booked Coin Street for a future event!”
Anna Chowcat, Local Campaigns Officer – Leonard Cheshire Disability
