One year ago, we were celebrating and launching one of London’s unique venues: The Light. We had one goal: offer a large contemporary conference space in the heart of the city, accessible to all and where events don’t cost the earth. “It is an amazing setting and we are delighted that 48,000 people have attended events in The Light so far,” says, Paul Grey, Head of Facilities at Friends House.
The Light was designed around the idea that everyone should be able to see and hear each other in a cohesive space. It was also important for the 1,000-capacity auditorium and its 200m2 of floor space to be flooded with natural light. A greatly flexible auditorium was equally key for us and we offer a variety of configurations. As a recognition, we won a regional RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) award, in 2015.
As part of Friends House, The Light is steeped in Quaker History and reflects its values. We are committed to transparency, quality and sustainability. Our delegate rates are all-inclusive (including VAT) and advertised on The Light's website. We only use low carbon heating and light and locally-sourced seasonal menus for our events. So far, 5,300 delegates have tasted our food!
