Fairmont St Andrews hosts ITM Conference 2015

Published: 27 Apr 2015

Scotland rolled out the tartan carpet for the Institute of Travel & Meetings from 20-22 April, as its annual conference took place at the Fairmont, St Andrews.

More than 300 delegates headed north of the border for three days of networking and education to assess where business travel is heading over the next five years.

The three-day event was produced by RLC Productions and made full use of the luxury golf and spa hotel’s meetings and events facilities. Keynote sessions in the 600-capacity Robert Burns Ballroom were delivered by, among others, Ryanair Chief Executive Michael O’Leary and Olympic Cycling Champion, Sir Chris Hoy.

Delegates also heard from Anna Chomse, Google’s industry head for travel who urged the corporate travel sector to ‘get good at mobile’ as the lack of convergence was leaving business travellers frustrated.

Break-out sessions took place in six of the hotel’s ten meeting spaces, covering topics such as globalisation, the future of accommodation and risk management planning.

A dedicated buyer’s programme ran on the first afternoon in the 106-seat John Barbour auditorium, followed by a ‘meet the sponsors’networking event.

The conference’s main gala evening and ITM Buyer Achievement Awards took place back in the Robert Burns Ballroom before delegates danced into the ‘wee small hours’at a silent disco.
