The North West’s leading conference and exhibition venue has further strengthened its sales team with the addition of an Assistant Director of Sales.
New recruit,
Tom Forshaw, joins Manchester Central after spending 10 years in senior management positions at TUI Travel PLC – the latter three as Managing Director of Thomson Sport.
During his time at TUI, Tom established a strong track record in developing and implementing complex sales strategies for premium events.
As joint founder of a start-up specialist sports tour operator, Tom sold the business to TUI in 2008. He continued to head up the business and established partnerships with rights holders including the FA and the NFL as well as multiple professional football clubs enabling Thomson Sport to report record sales revenues of over £52m in 2012.
Speaking about joining the team, he said: “As a proud and passionate Mancunian, I’m thrilled to join the team at Manchester Central. It’s a great opportunity to go back to my roots and focus entirely on sales.
“The venue has a great reputation for delivering world class events across multiple sectors and I’m very much looking forward to developing relationships with clients and continuing to boost their return on investment."
Tom’s recruitment follows the introduction of a number of sales positions, including the role of Assistant CEO – Sales, Marketing and Communications.
Elizabeth Faulkner assumed the newly created role after developing a wealth of experience within multiple positions across the events industry.
Since taking the helm, she has expanded the sales team in line with the growth of the business; recruiting a number of experienced professionals to establish a 12-strong team.
Elizabeth said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing our experienced sales professionals build on the venue’s existing success.
“Manchester Central is already recognised for hosting some of the world’s best events and I’m extremely excited about this wonderful opportunity to take the venue on to even greater industry heights.”
