Little helpers wrap up Christmas early at Keele

Published: 09 Oct 2014

Children from Keele University Day Nursery have got into the Christmas spirit early to help Keele Hall launch its Christmas 2014 events programme.Although the summer holidays are still on the minds of many, the Keele Conferences and Events team has its sights firmly set on Christmas and so invited the youngsters, aged from three to five years old, to join Keele Hall executive chef Peter Walters to decorate gingerbread Christmas trees.

Marcus Wilson, head of commercial marketing at Keele University said: “Although Christmas may feel a long way off, people are already starting to think about the way in which they will be celebrating Christmas – whether that’s with friends and family or celebrations with work colleagues. “We’ve just launched our festive events programme and so thought it would be great to invite local nursery children to help celebrate with us and prepare some gingerbread treats to take home.”

Keele’s Christmas events programme kicks off with a Christmas Market on Sunday 23rd November. The market, in association with the Douglas Macmillan Hospice, will help all members of the family get into the festive spirit and snap up last minute gifts. Children under 10 can also get the chance to meet Santa at a special family-friendly Santa Sunday lunch on 7th December at Keele Hall.Other events on offer throughout the season include yuletide lunches throughout December in the Hall’s Terrace restaurant and Christmas party nights that include dinner and dancing – with these even running into January 2015. Those looking for a different way to celebrate can also sample the Hall’s festive afternoon tea – a seasonal twist on a British tradition.

Wendy Foster, manager at Keele University Day Nursery, added: “The children had a great time getting creative (and messy) with the chef at Keele Hall. This month’s topic focus has been on jobs, so it was a nice way to bring the job of baking to life for them."
