The Princess Royal formally opened the ArtsTwo building at Queen Mary on Friday 9th March, the £15m facility boasting a state-of-the-art 300 seat lecture theatre, alongside six breakout rooms and communal facilities completed in late 2011.
Adding to the existing portfolio of facilities available for hire at the Mile End campus, Jonathan Rhodes,
Marketing and Sales Manager in Events & Hospitality QM notes ‘The College continues to invest in its facilities to ensure they meet the changing needs of our users. We recognise that continued development of the campus is vital to meet growing expectations in Higher Education and in the industry.’
The opening of ArtsTwo comes on the back of a current £5m project to refurbish the Grade II listed Great Hall – a 750 seat capacity venue featuring a fully equipped theatre-standard stage capable of
hosting performances alongside circulation and breakout space featuring a bar. This is coupled with an announcement of a £36m project to create a new Graduate centre with lecture theatres, bedroom accommodation, seminar rooms and a glass atrium linking the centre to the Great Hall to create a new covered walkway between the two venues.
ArtsTwo is just one of over 100 meeting and training rooms available at the Mile End campus of Queen Mary through the Events & Hospitality QM offering, alongside facilities at three other central
London locations. The Mile End campus is just 2 miles from the 2012 Olympic park, and, in addition to meeting and training rooms it features 1200 ensuite bedrooms and catering facilities. Further information is available at www.qmhospitality.co.uk
